Day 9 Sunday 1 July 2012
Our alarm was set for 4:40 am, we picked up a box lunch to take with us then walked a little over a mile to catch a bus to catch the train.  The train track was under construction.  We boarded the train in Honefuss and rode the Bergen Railway up the mountain where we still had snow then changed to the Flam railway and went down the mountain to the city of Flam, some great waterfalls on the way.  We transfered to a ship and traveled up the Aurlandsfjord into the Naeroyfjord, one of the narrowest fjords in Europe many, many waterfalls. we ended up in Gudvangen at the end of the fjord and boarded the bus again.  This time we came down an 18% grade on hairpin curves.  The bus driver when asked how long he had been driving that road said, "this is my first time"  not so.

We got back on the train at this point.  Some of the group boarded the wrong train and had to hurry off. One of the men did not hear the get off part and 15 miles later the conductor stopped an oncoming train and had him change and return to the station.  There was a second train for Oslo and he boarded that and finally got back with his wife and came in around midnight.

We were glad that we did not have to carry our luggage and change as many times as we went from bus to train and boat and back again.  It was late and we stopped for a hamburger on the way to the hotel.
